Check to see who has warrants

  • Published Monday, March 21, 2011, at 12:06 a.m.

Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

For a complete list of You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.

The record: Information about whether you, or someone else, has a warrant issued for them.

Why you'd want it: To make sure you don't have any warrants or to find out if someone else you know does.

Where you get the records: You can search Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office warrants at www.sedgwickcounty.org/sheriff. Click on the "Active Warrants Search" link under the "Online Searches" menu on the right side of the home page. From there, you also can check warrants issued by the city of Wichita.

How much it will cost: The information is free.
