  • Published Friday, March 11, 2011, at 12:06 a.m.

Put on your green and celebrate St. Patrick's Day next week by attending an authentic Irish dance performance. Here are the details:

1) Dancers from the Corry Academy of Irish Dance in Wichita will perform traditional Irish dances, some with a modern twist, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at GracePoint Church, 9035 W. Central.

2) Most of the dancers are students, ranging in age from 4 to early 30s, with instruction by Noreen Northrop , who was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and started dancing at the age of 3. Last year, Northrop took seven of her students to Dublin for the Irish Open, with three winning awards.

3) The two-hour program will include vocal and instrumental music as well as dance. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 3 to 10. Call 316-641-8460 for more information or to make reservations.

Classical concert

Violinist Philippe Quint will perform Ravel's "Tzigane" and John Corigliano's "The Red Violin: Chaconne" with the Wichita Symphony Orchestra this weekend. Daniel Hege will conduct the concerts, which will open with Beethoven's Leonore Overture No. 3 and conclude with the Symphony No. 4 by Brahms. Performances are at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Century II Concert Hall. Tickets range from $20 to $44. Call 316-267-7658.
