  • Published Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at 7:22 a.m.

Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.

For a complete list of You Oughta Know columns, go to www.kansas.com/oughta.

The records: Information about building codes in the city of Wichita.

Why you'd want it: To learn more about the regulations that might affect your subdivision or business.

Where you get the records: From the city's website, www.wichita.gov. Click on the (Office of) Central Inspection link from the menu on the left. Then click on "Codes Enforced."

How much it will cost: The information is free.
