Local

Cheney: White bass/wipers fair to good with Kastmasters and twistertails wading off windblown points casting into surfacing shad schools. Catfish good lakewide drifting frogs, stinkbaits, shrimp and cutbaits.

Council Grove: Catfish good over the flats drifting shad. Saugeye fair along riprap using crankbaits and plastics. White bass/wipers fair trolling shad-imitating crankbaits near face of dam and off points. Crappie fair along the dam and the breaks off the points at 8-12 foot depths.

El Dorado: White bass/wipers fair to good using shad imitators along windblown shorelines and off mainlake points. Catfish fair using cut bait, fresh shad or livers. Walleye fair trolling crankbaits or casting to windblown structure at dawn and dusk.

Kingman SFL: Catfish good with stink baits and shrimp lakewide. Largemouth bass fair around brushpiles and rock jetties using topwater lures in lily pads. Sunfish fair on worms. Northern pike fair at north end with swimbaits and crankbaits.

Marion: Catfish good using prepared bait or drifting whole shad. Crappie fair near drop off and brushpiles. Walleye fair off windblown shores or points with grub and shad imitations. White bass good using sassy shads on the flats. Wipers good using curly-tailed grubs and crankbaits off points and over flats, wipers mixed with white bass.

McPherson SFL: Catfish good near the fish feeders with stink baits or shrimp. Largemouth bass fair using soft plastics around structure. Bluegill good near any structure using nightcrawlers.

Kansas

Fall River: Catfish good using worms, shad sides or stink bait on setlines in the river and on the mud flats. Crappie good on channel breaks and under trees overhanging the river using minnow or jig. Largemouth bass fair using plastic shad, rattle trap, spinner baits or plastic worm in the flooded timber or clearer water in the backwater section of the river. White bass good on the mud flats and points in the evening using plastic shad, rattle traps, twistertails or spinnerbaits.

Milford: Catfish good in the river with worms, cut baits and shad or along channel ledges on shad. Crappie fair on top of brush 10-15 feet deep near coves and points using minnows and jigs. Walleye fair trolling spinners and crankbaits along drop offs 20 feet deep. Black bass good using topwaters, jigs or spinnerbaits near brush and using carolina rigs and crankbaits along riprap and off deep points. White bass/wipers good on live baits near humps and points or trolling crankbaits near points and using topwater lures around surfacing shad.

Toronto: Catfish good on setlines in the river and Walnut Creek and on the mud flats using worms, shad sides or stink bait. Largemouth bass fair using plastic shad, rattle trap, spinner baits or plastic worm in the flooded timber or clearer water in the backwater section of Walnut Creek. White bass good on the mud flats and points in the evening using plastic shad, rattle traps or spinnerbaits. Crappie good using minnow or jig on channel breaks and around stumps in Mann's Cove, Toronto Cove and the north side of Duck Island.

Tuttle Creek: Catfish good at the tubes or Baldwin Creek area using a variety of baits. Crappie fair to good in the reservoir around standing timber. White bass fair along rocky points or near the dam. Largemouth bass fair in coves in the southern third of the reservoir, especially McIntyre Cove. Saugeye fair in the River Pond or the tubes.

Wilson: Catfish good with worms, liver, shrimp, live baits, soaked grain and dip baits in chumming areas. Stripers fair at the mouth of Deer Run Cove using slab spoons. Walleye fair to good along the edges of weedbeds in 7-10 feet of water using white twister-tailed jigs, crankbaits and roadrunners. Black bass good using in backs of coves around weeds and rocks white twister-tailed jigs, small wacky worms, small spinnerbaits or topwater lures.

Waterfowl Report

Cedar Bluff WA: Water level is 13.1 feet below conservation pool. Approximately 200 teal and a few other ducks observed. Hunting conditions good, with a lot of flooded shoreline vegetation. Success rated good to excellent.

Cheney: Reservoir is at conservation pool. No teal observed using the area. Conditions rated poor. Success rated poor.

Cheyenne Bottoms WA: Duck numbers range from 20,000-25,000, mostly mallards and teal. Pool 1A, 59 inches; Pools 1B and 1C,-31 inches; Pool 2, 17 inches; Pool 3A, 13 inches, Pool 3B, 18 inches; Pool 4A, 18 inches; Pool 4B, 6 inches; Pool 5, 15 inches. Hunting conditions are good. Success rated good.

Council Grove: Lake is 1.3 feet above conservation pool. No teal on the area. Hunting conditions rated poor. Success rated poor.

El Dorado: Water is 0.6 feet below conservation pool. No teal reported. Hunting conditions rated fair. Success expected to be poor.

Glen Elder: Water level is 2.5 feet below conservation pool. Estimating 800 teal and 200 other ducks present. Hunting conditions fair, with exposed mudflats at the west end. Success expected to be fair at best.

Jamestown WA: Water levels are fair to good. Approximately 800-1,000 teal present, along with 300 wood ducks and 100 other ducks. Hunting conditions are good. Success rated fair to good.

McPherson Valley Wetlands: Water levels fair to good throughout the wetlands. Fewer than 500 teal are on the public area, along with a few big ducks. Hunting conditions are excellent, good vegetation present in most pools. Success expected to be fair.

Marais des Cygnes: Pools have almost no water. Few teal on the area. Conditions rated poor, success expected to be poor.

Marion: Water is 1.2 feet above conservation pool. Few teal are present. Hunting conditions are fair. Expected hunting success to be poor.

Milford: Water is at conservation pool. Approximately 500 teal present. Conditions are poor, with summer floods habitat and food scarce in wetlands. Success should be variable.

Neosho: Approximately 150 teal are on the area. Refuge pool is 1 foot low. Habitat is fair, need rain to fill most pools. Hunting success expected to be poor to fair.

Norton: Water level is 7.19 foot below conservation pool. Approximately 200-300 teal present. Hunting conditions good, with flooded trees. Hunting success expected to be good.

Quivira: Normal water levels in all hunting units. Approximately 850 teal are on the area, with some big ducks also present. Success expected to be poor to fair on the area.

Tuttle Creek: Water is 2.67 feet above conservation pool. Black Vermillion and Olsburg marshes are full. Approximately 600-800 teal present. Hunting conditions poor to fair, with little shoreline vegetation around the lake or in the marshes. Hunting success considered fair to good.

Webster: Water is 3.75 feet below conservation level. Approximately 200 teal and 300 wood ducks are on the area. Hunting conditions fair, with sparse vegetation along South shoreline. Expected hunting success is poor to fair.

Wilson: Water is 0.5 feet above conservation pool. Approximately 30 teal were on the area. Hunting conditions are good, with flooded vegetation around the lake. Hunting success is expected to be difficult.
