The Wichita Area Metropolitan Planning Organization has commissioned a regional travel time study over the next two months.

Iteris, Inc., will measure the travel time, delay and level of service on roads in Sedgwick and parts of Butler and Sumner counties.

Travel time, delay and service levels will be measured on 256 miles of roadway and at 20 railroad crossings in the region, which includes all of Andover and Mulvane.

The measurements will be taken at peak hours, including 7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. The study should be completed by the end of October.

Information from the study will help elected officials and the Transportation Policy Body determine which transportation improvements are needed for the region. The data will be added to the WAMPO Congestion Management Process, which evaluates traffic congestion and possible solutions.
