A helpful shopper helped police identify and quickly apprehend a man suspected of robbing a Wal-Mart store in northeast Wichita this morning.
Wichita Police Sgt. Bill Stevens said a man in his 40s walked up to the check-cashing station of the Wal-Mart at 29th North and Rock Road at about 9 a.m. today and demanded money. The man left with an undetermined amount of cash, Stevens said.
"A citizen followed the man to his car and was able to obtain a car description and tag number," Stevens said.
Officers found and apprehended the suspect in less than an hour, he said.
