Local
Cheney: White bass/wipers good wading off windblown points casting into surfacing shad schools with Kastmasters and twistertails. Catfish good drifting frogs, stinkbaits, shrimp and cutbaits lakewide.
Council Grove: Catfish good drifting shad over the flats. Saugeye fair using crankbaits and plastics along riprap. White bass/wipers near face of dam and off points fair trolling shad-imitating crankbaits. Crappie fair along the dam and the breaks off the points at 8-12 foot depths.
El Dorado: White bass/wipers fair to good along windblown shorelines and off mainlake points using shad imitators. Catfish fair using cut bait, fresh shad or livers. Walleye fair at dawn and dusk trolling crankbaits or casting to windblown structure.
Kingman SFL: Catfish good lakewide with stink baits and shrimp. Largemouth bass fair using topwater lures in lily pads around brushpiles and rock jetties. Sunfish fair on worms. Northern pike fair with swimbaits and crankbaits at north end.
Marion: Catfish good drifting whole shad or using prepared bait. Crappie fair near drop off and brushpiles. Walleye fair with grub and shad imitations off windblown shores or points. White bass fair on the flats using sassy shads. Wipers fair off points and over flats using curly-tailed grubs and crankbaits, wipers mixed with white bass.
McPherson SFL: Catfish good with stink baits or shrimp near the fish feeders. Largemouth bass fair around structure using soft plastics. Bluegill good using nightcrawlers near any structure.
Kansas
Fall River: Catfish good on setlines in the river and on the mud flats using worms, shad sides or stink bait. Crappie good using minnow or jig on channel breaks and under trees overhanging the river. Largemouth bass fair in the flooded timber or clearer water in the backwater section of the river using plastic shad, rattle trap, spinner baits or plastic worm. White bass good using plastic shad, rattle traps, twistertails or spinnerbaits on the mud flats and points in the evening.
Glen Elder: Crappie fair trolling along the bluffs, dam and near the river breaks off the state park shore or fishing the brushpiles off Harrison Point, Campground 3 and the swimming beach. Wiper/white bass fair to good along the dam, Sandy beach, mouth of Walnut Creek and Marina and Timber coves and mouths of creeks trolling or slabbing. Smallmouth bass good along rocky areas and structure casting topwater lures like Zara Spooks early and late in the day or using a variety of crankbaits in 4-8 feet of water. Catfish fair using shad in the rivers, around Fisherman's Bridge, the "Honey Hole" and around the stumps in Oak and Carr Creeks.
Kanopolis: Catfish good using sponge and dip baits after chumming on the humps and around brushpiles. White bass good to excellent in the main lake, near rockpiles and off windblown points with shad-colored crankbaits, jigs, roadrunners or slab spoons. Wipers fair with live shad or slab spoons off windblown points.
Kirwin: Walleye fair using crank baits below Knob Hill or using jig-n-crawler on the humps, drop offs and river channel. Wipers/white bass good using crank baits and spinners.
Lovewell: White bass/wipers good in the outlet and inlet casting shad, roadrunners, slabs and Panther Martins or trolling off Cabin and Walleye Points. Catfish fair in the inlet and outlet areas, as well as drifting the flats around the cross and Oak Hill, using shrimp and live bullheads and bluegill.
Milford: Catfish good with worms, cut baits and shad in the river or on shad along channel ledges. Walleye fair along drop offs 20-30 feet deep trolling spinners and crankbaits. Black bass good near brush using topwaters, jigs or spinnerbaits and along riprap and off deep points using carolina rigs and crankbaits. White bass/wipers good near humps and points on live baits or trolling crankbaits near points and using topwater lures around surfacing shad.
Norton: Wipers good using surface lures along the dam. Crappie fair using jigs and jig-n-minnows around the public fishing dock and fish attractors. Catfish fair using shad, shrimp and nightcrawlers in the spillway channel or at the west end on trotlines and limb lines. Largemouth/spotted bass fair in Leota Cove, in the spillway channel and along the dam using crankbaits and spinnerbaits.
Toronto: Catfish good using worms, shad sides or stink bait on setlines in the river and Walnut Creek and on the mud flats. Largemouth bass fair in the flooded timber or clearer water in the backwater section of Walnut Creek using plastic shad, rattle trap, spinner baits or plastic worm. White bass good using plastic shad, rattle traps or spinnerbaits on the mud flats and points in the evening. Crappie good on channel breaks and around stumps in Mann's Cove, Toronto Cove and the north side of Duck Island using minnow or jig.
Tuttle Creek: Catfish fair using a variety of baits at the tubes or Baldwin Creek area. Crappie fair around standing timber in Tuttle Cove or Stockdale area. White bass fair along rocky points or near the dam. Largemouth bass fair in coves in the southern third of the reservoir, especially McIntyre Cove. Saugeye fair in the River Pond or the tubes.
Webster: Wipers/white bass good at the mouth of Old Marina Cove and Lakeview area with jigs or minnows. Catfish fair with worms in the stilling basin, up to the west end using green sunfish and on trot lines using shrimp.
Wilson: Catfish good in chumming areas with worms, liver, shrimp, live baits, soaked grain and dip baits. Walleye fair to good using white twister-tailed jigs, crankbaits and roadrunners along the edges of weedbeds in 7-10 feet of water. Black bass good using topwater baits or small spinnerbaits in backs of coves around weeds and rocks.
