North Dakota State at Kansas scouting report

Three things about North Dakota State

1. KU coach Turner Gill and North Dakota State coach Craig Bohl both played and coached at Nebraska.

2. The Bison and Jayhawks played in the first round of the 2009 NCAA basketball tournament in a game won by KU.

3. North Dakota State has a 3-3 record against FBS opponents since 2006, boasting wins against Minnesota, Ball State and Central Michigan.

Key matchup

Kansas QB Kale Pick vs. the moment. Pick has been waiting his entire life to start Saturday's game, and with 50,000 fans in the seats at Memorial Stadium, the pressure will be on. The key for Pick early this season will be to not beat himself and be able to move on quickly from inevitable mistakes.

J. Brady McCollough's pick: Kansas, 34-10

The Jayhawks may have unproven talent, but there is unquestionably talent on this roster, especially at the skill positions. Playmakers such as Angus Quigley, Daymond Patterson and Bradley McDougald should have plenty of chances to shine on Saturday in a relatively easy opening victory for Gill.
