Wichita Wild coach Ken Matous, who has led the indoor football team to two straight conference championship games, signed a one-year contract extension on Thursday.

"I'm real excited, probably more excited than I was two years ago because we have the potential to bring back so many championship-caliber players," Matous said. "We've got a great owner and the best arena in the league.

"Now, we've just got to win a championship and make even more people want to be a part of it."

Matous has compiled a 17-11 regular-season record and a 4-2 mark in the playoffs. The veteran coach has recruited some of the Indoor Football League's top talent to Wichita, including all-stars Clinton Solomon and Darius Fudge.

"He's got contacts from coast to coast; its just incredible," general manager John Blazek said. "Were lucky to have such a quality coach with so much experience. He brings a touch of class to this organization."
