A federal grant that the city is poised to apply for could add miles of bike paths to the downtown area and convert four one-way streets downtown to two-way streets.

Under the proposed grant application, the city would pay $10.5 million to leverage $24.5 million in federal money that is part of the TIGER II program. (TIGER stands for Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery.) Wichita City Council members will vote on whether to submit the application this morning.

Here's a look at the projects it would fund and estimated costs:

* Convert Main to a two-way street from Douglas to Murdock, $2.4 million.

* Install bike lanes on Market from Kellogg to Murdock, $3.7 million.

* Install bike lanes on Topeka from Kellogg to Murdock, $1.2 million.

* Install on-street parking on Emporia from Kellogg to Murdock and from William to Second Street, $880,000.

* Convert St. Francis to a two-way street from Lincoln to Waterman and from Douglas to Second Street, $3.5 million.

* Install bike lanes on First and Second Streets from Wichita to Hydraulic, $4.4 million.

* Implement Douglas Design District and Downtown Master Plan improvements on Douglas, $6.9 million.

* Convert William and English to two-way streets from Main to Emporia, $2.5 million.

* Install "share the road" bicycle markings on Waterman from Sycamore to Hydraulic, $22,000.

* Reconstruct Lewis and install streetscapes from Main to St. Francis, $2.5 million.

* Install on-street parking on McLean Boulevard, from Second Street to Maple, $523,000.

* Reconstruct Sycamore and connect it to McLean Boulevard, with a traffic signal, $1 million.

* Expand the Q-Line route, $3.5 million.
