Each Monday, The Eagle highlights a government record that is available to the public. Open records help people keep government in check and help them better understand how government affects their lives.
The record: A searchable database of businesses that hold liquor licenses issued by the state.
Why you'd want it: To make sure an establishment has a valid liquor license or to learn more about how many licenses there are in a particular city or county. You can search by name of business, by county, by city and by license type.
Where you get the records: Go to https://www.kdor.org/abc/licensee/. You will have to agree to a disclaimer. The Kansas Department of Revenue keeps the records. Its number in Topeka is 785-368-8222.
