Three developers that hope to build a casino in Sumner County turned in proposals to the county by Thursday's noon deadline. The same three development groups delivered plans to the Kansas Lottery last week. They are:

* Harrah's Sumner Investment Co., which has proposed a Harrah's Kansas casino for Exit 33, near Mulvane.

* Peninsula Gaming Partners of Dubuque, Iowa, which proposes the Kansas Star Casino, Hotel and Event Center for Exit 33.

* Global Gaming LLC of Ada, Okla., a subsidiary of the Chickasaw Nation, with a proposal for a casino for Exit 19, near Wellington.

Harrah's has an alternative site for its casino on land that is within the Mulvane city limits.

Details of the proposals turned in to the county Thursday weren't released. The lottery has notified developers that they may amend their plans until local governing bodies make them public. Sumner County will make them public at a meeting of county commissioners Aug. 10 at the Raymond Frye Complex in Wellington.

Commissioners will meet Aug. 17 at the same location to take public comment and make endorsements. Proposals must be endorsed by local governments before the developers can sign contracts with the Lottery.

All signed contracts will be forwarded to a seven-member review board for review and a vote.
