WICHITA — Wells Fargo will lift the bags on most of the signs at its Kansas Wachovia branches this weekend.

The San Francisco-based bank said today that temporary vinyl Wachovia signs placed over permanent Wells Fargo will be lifted as it completes its conversion.

On Monday, Wells Fargo regional president Kirk Kellner will be in Wichita at the Wells Fargo branch at 455 S. West St. to unveil the last covered sign.

The change caps off more than a year of planning, training Wachovia employees on Wells Fargo products and computer systems, and renovating the interiors of the branches.

Wells Fargo acquired Charlotte, N.C.-based Wachovia in 2008.

The bank has eight branches in Kansas, including two in Wichita.

About 25 people work for Wells Fargo Bank in Wichita.

It is the second California-based bank to operate in the Wichita market. Bank of the West, also based in San Francisco, entered Wichita in 2005 after acquiring the former Commercial Federal Bank.
