WICHITA — Police in Joplin, Mo., said today they have arrested two women in connection with a Sedgwick County murder case, but authorities in Kansas and Missouri are refusing to disclose any details about the alleged crime.

Joplin police said Sharon K. Huddleston and Rhonda L. Pischel, who lived together in Joplin, were being held on charges of first-degree murder.

Joplin police said they have been working on the investigation for the past two months with Park City police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

Law enforcement sources referred inquiries about the case to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office.

Office spokeswoman Georgia Cole said she would release the date of the homicide and the identity of the victim after the suspects are returned to Sedgwick County.

The suspects will be held in the Jasper County Jail in Joplin while awaiting extradition, Joplin police said.
