Joyland owner and operator dies

Stanley Nelson, the owner and operator of one of Wichita's most iconic landmarks — the Joyland Amusement Park — died Tuesday. He was 87.
Family visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Broadway Mortuary, 1147 S. Broadway. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Evangelical Free Church, 1825 N. Woodlawn; a graveside committal is at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Resthaven Cemetery.
Mr. Nelson and his wife, Margaret, have been the owners of the park for more than half a century. The park closed in 2006.
