More than 1,500 Westar customers in Butler County are currently without electricity — most of them in Benton and Towanda.

Westar spokesman Nick Bundy said an insulator a mile east of the Towanda substation failed at 1:04 p.m.

Repair crews are on the scene and power should be restored later this afternoon, he said.
