More showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the Wichita metropolitan area this morning and again later today and tonight, forecasters say.

Highs should reach the upper 80s or low 90s under partly cloudy skies today, before the storms roll in. Some of the storms could be strong, forecasters caution, with winds of up to 60 miles an hour and quarter-sized hail. Winds can be expected to gust above 30 mph.

Overnight lows should settle in the low 70s, with intermittent showers persisting. Wednesday should be cooler, with highs only surging into the low 80s.

More showers are possible Wednesday.
