The Wichita Business Coalition on Health Care was awarded a $30,000 Community Health Partnership Seed Grant to help prevent diabetes in the workplace through physical activity and good nutrition.
The grant was made by the National Business Coalition on Health through the Community Coalitions Health Institute. Merck, Sanofi-Aventis and the United Health Foundation are providing funding.
The Sedgwick County Health Department supported the application through technical assistance and will assist with grant initiatives.
"This grant is a unique and significant opportunity for Sedgwick County," said Ron Whiting, the Wichita coalition's executive director, in a news release today. "It will engage business leaders to lead by example to help improve the health of their employees."
