Myers Rep. Don Myers announced today that he is retiring from the state Legislature after 18 years in office.

Myers, R-Derby, could not immediately be reached for comment, but issued a statement saying he will retire at the end of this year when his current term expires.

“The 18 years that I have served have been very rewarding and will be remembered as a highlight in my life,” Myers said in the statement. “The support that has been available from my wife and family is the reason for my success. I wish to acknowledge the many constituents who have encouraged me in my service and extend to them my sincere appreciation.

“Thank you Derby, and all of District 82, for your confidence."
