WICHITA (--) The Kansas Bioscience Authority plans to award Cargill Meat Solutions $750,000 to develop a center that will focus on food safety and development of new food products.
KBA said the award is pending the Wichita-based company's decision to build the planned research center.
Under that plan, KBA said, Cargill Meat Solutions would make a $15 million investment in the new center, retain 51 jobs and hire about 10 more employees.
The announcement of the investment was one of five projects in which KBA said today it would invest: nearly $500,000 for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Arthropod-Borne Animal Diseases Research Unit in Manhattan; $350,000 to PRA International in Lenexa; $390,000 to Lawrence-based Deciphera Pharmaceuticals; and $250,000 to the University of Kansas Cancer Center.
