The census, as usual, has caused a great uproar. Everything being asked is on public record. Wouldn't it be more efficient if the states just submitted what they have every 10 years — birth and death records, transfers of property ownership, income-tax filings, etc.?

I'm just dumbstruck that the Kansas House delayed talks on tax-increase proposals until May. I'm not anti-government, but all of those serving in the House and Senate should find another hobby. They're not taking care of Kansans at all.

If Kansas had some decent congressmen, they would be fighting for more stimulus money for our schools, as congressmen in other states are doing.

I can't believe The Eagle would print the March 16 letter from the hate-filled Margie Phelps. I know she has a right to speak, but why provide a forum for her vitriol?

I thank Margie Phelps and the mean-spirited religion she represents for their upcoming attack in the U.S. Supreme Court on petty would-be tyrants who would limit our First Amendment freedoms.

Whoever says Kansas has the best roads apparently has never been through the city of Bel Aire. Its streets would win for the worst roads in America.

Are you seriously annoyed with people singing and dancing at concerts? What are we supposed to do? I paid $200 for a ticket for the Elton John-Billy Joel concert, and I wanted to enjoy my time there.

The St. Patrick's Day parade is getting pretty lame. I think two-thirds of it consisted of SUVs advertising either their church or their political agenda. Let's bring back a real parade for the kids. Otherwise I'm going to quit going.

The NCAA should start giving technical fouls for swearing. I don't need to hear K-State coach Frank Martin swearing at his players. As college graduates, coaches should be able to express themselves in a civilized manner.

The Norman Rockwell exhibition at the Wichita Art Museum is fabulous. It's huge. Everyone should go and see it.
