Get tree ideas, tips at Tree Fest

  • Published Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 12:04 a.m.

Plant vendors, seminars and tree tours will be part of the master gardeners' annual Tree Festival on March 27 at the Extension Education Center at 21st and Ridge Road.

The event will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and provide information on selecting, planting and maintaining trees in the city or in the countryside. Seminar topics will be for both homeowners and those in the commercial trade. Plant vendors from around the region will have unique trees and plants for sale. Tim Martz, who will retire as the city's park and recreation director later this year, will be honored.

People will be able to walk through the grounds of the Sedgwick County Extension Arboretum, where the trees are marked with their names. Starting at 8 a.m., pancakes and sausage will be served by the master gardeners for $4.
