WICHITA — A Creighton University report on rural economies showed improvement in Kansas in March.
The Kansas Rural Mainstreet Index rose to 48.6 in March from 34.9 in February, though it remains below an index score of 50, which the reports authors say is growth neutral.
Also moving higher was the farmland price index, from 51.1 to 59.4, and the new hiring index, which increased to 46.9 in March from 33.1 in February.
The indexes are based on a monthly survey of community bank presidents and CEOs in Kansas and 10 other Midwest states.
