Junior Krysten Boogaard scored a career-high 37 points to lead the Kansas women to an 82-70 victory over Prairie View A&M in the first round of the women's NIT on Wednesday in Lawrence.
Boogaard, a 6-foot-5 junior, hadn't scored in double figures in the previous 16 games. She had 20 by halftime Wednesday as KU built a 42-33 edge.
Boogaard made 12 of 19 shots and all 13 of her free throws, and grabbed eight rebounds. Monica Engelman added 12 points and Sade Morris scored 10 for Kansas.
KU played without freshman Carolyn Davis, who has led the team in scoring since the career-ending injury suffered by Danielle McCray.
KU (16-15) will play at 1 p.m. Sunday in Lawrence against the winner of the Stephen F. Austin-Creighton game.
