— A south Wichita man called police Tuesday night to report that someone had taken the copper wiring he had stored in his barn.

The wire was taken from the 5900 block of South Hydraulic. The man told police he arrived home, saw the barn door open and noticed his copper wire was missing.

"He had several hundred feet of copper wire and several feet of three-strand copper wire stored inside the barn," said Gordon Bassham, spokesman for the Wichita Police Department.

A neighbor told police he saw a man earlier driving a small blue or black pickup through the area.
