Boeing now has four 787 airplanes in its flight test program. The fourth plane made its first flight on Sunday.
The plane, called ZA003, flew for a little over three hours. It will be used for testing to ensure the 787’s interior meets federal certification requirements. The 787 will have improved lighting, bigger stowage bins, larger windows with electrochromatic shades and redesigned lavatories.
The aircraft also will be used for flight testing systems, noise performance, flight-deck operations, avionics, electromagnetic effects, high-intensity radio frequencies and extended operations.
