Authorities have released the names of four people killed in an early morning accident on the Kansas Turnpike near the Belle Plaine service exit.
They are:
* Gregory William Davis, 27, of Wichita. He was driving a 1995 Chevy SUV.
* Kyoung Yeon Chae, 39, of Wichita. She was driving a 2005 Dodge minivan.
* Yuna Choi, 17, of Wichita.
* Seo Won Choi, 9, of Wichita. Both Chois were passengers in the minivan.
A third passenger, Hana Choi, 17, of Wichita was critically injured and was taken to Wesley Hospital. She is the twin sister of Yuna Choi.
Truck driver Reginald Jones, 37, of Hopkins, S.C., was transported to a hospital with what authorities described as "non-serious" injuries.
The accident happened shortly after 4:30 this morning, Kansas turnpike authorities said.
Dispatchers received several reports of a northbound vehicle in the southbound lanes of the turnpike near the Belle Plaine service area.
At milepost 30.9, the northbound SUV struck a southbound van head-on in the southbound passing lane.
The van then was struck in the rear by a southbound semi-truck and trailer. The truck and trailer overturned onto its right side, blocking the highway.
The SUV and van came to rest in the passing lane, blocking the inside southbound lane. The SUV also caught fire.
Authorities said there was considerable debris from the vehicles and fuel leakage from the truck. The truck was loaded with meat, but its trailer did not break open.
Traffic was rerouted until the wreckage could be cleared. The southbound lanes of the turnpike remained blocked until approximately 9:45 a.m. when one lane, the passing lane, opened.
Both lanes were expected to be open by early afternoon, authorities said.
