No matter how great an idea President Obama could come up with, the Republicans would oppose it, because they care more about making Obama look bad than they care about the welfare of this country.

Eighty-five percent of Americans have health coverage. But the Democrats want to fix it by affecting the coverage of 100 percent of the people. How ludicrous is this? It is about control, not reform.

Where are all the people who blamed President Bush for high gas prices? Seems like they're getting higher. Is it still Bush's fault?

When I first saw Sarah Palin, I thought she was very pretty. Then she spoke.

If only we had a state Legislature with a backbone: There should be an emergency one-year sales-tax increase, then a long-term plan that would call for small percentage increases in all Kansas income-tax brackets. Someday citizens will just have to face the hard facts.

Current-day version of the phrase "Nero fiddled while Rome burned": The Kansas Legislature argued about the official state grass (big bluestem, little bluestem or buffalo?) while state finances crashed and burned.

At the Elton John/Billy Joel concert, we sat near the woman who danced through most of the concert. We felt sorry for the people directly behind her. None of us paid those kind of ticket prices to see her dance.

* * *

For all you people who are whining about higher taxes: You should have voted for a casino.

* * *

Pretty hard to get away from the anti-smoking crowd. Now they are following me outside and bringing their grandchildren in order to be offended.

I miss Conan O'Brien.

If cell phones had been around when I was young and I had taken one to church, my parents would have ripped it out of my hands and I wouldn't have seen it for a week. My parents were parents and not immature imitations.
