In health care, "public option" is a misnomer. It should be called "public mandate." With the government regulating its competitors, how long do you think they would be allowed to exist?

The chickens have sure come home to roost. In exchange for cheap stuff, we gave away our manufacturing to Third World countries. We forgot we would lose our tax base and all that it buys — like an education for our kids.

Republicans in the Kansas House of Representatives would serve the people well by taking the speakership away from Rep. Mike O'Neal. He is an embarrassment to the party and needs to go. He is fighting a 5 percent pay cut for legislative staff while teachers are losing their jobs and disabled children in Kansas can't get wheelchairs.

The disabled already know what government health care is like. They appreciate what they get, but are the first to suffer when there are budget cuts.

If you "Do the Deed" and keep it a secret, that is wonderful. When I do, I don't keep it a secret, with hopes it will inspire others. Doing the Deed is synonymous with acts of kindness and not slang for having sex.

If you are overweight and supported the smoking ban, beware — the perfect ones are coming for you next.

Tax soda pop by the ounce, not the sugar content. Place a $1 meal tax at all fast-food restaurants. Then tax all churchgoers a $5 pew tax each week, and leave us smokers and beer drinkers alone.
