WICHITA — Police are investigating the possibility that a man followed a woman after she cashed a check before he robbed her outside her home.
The 23-year-old woman was not injured in the robbery, which occurred about 3:20 p.m. Thursday in the 3900 block of East Longview, police spokesman Gordon Bassham said today.
Bassham gave this account: The woman went to Lincoln and Oliver to cash a check and drove to her home in the 3900 block of East Longview, near Kellogg and South Quentin. She went inside, and when she walked back to her car in the driveway a few minutes later, a robber approached her.
He pulled out a black, semi-automatic pistol and demanded her keys, cell phone and money. After she gave the items to him, he ran behind her four-plex, Bassham said.
The robber is described as an unknown Hispanic male in his 20s, with a medium build and wearing a green, puffy winter coat and a white "hoody." He had a light goatee and noticeable acne scars on his face.
Police ask that anyone with information about the crime call the police robbery investigation section, 316-268-4177, or Crime Stoppers, 316-267-2111.
