Several local restaurants will add Irish specials such as corned beef and cabbage and Irish stew to their menus on Wednesday, which is St. Patrick's Day. Following are a few:
1. Toni D's, 650 N. Carriage Parkway: Specials will include corned beef and cabbage with buttered new potatoes and bread, grilled Reubens and shamrock cookies. The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 316-686-5996 for a carryout order.
2. Adrian's, 2121 N. Rock Road: The Mediterranean restaurant will offer a couple of Irish specials for lunch and dinner on Wednesday, including Irish stew, corned beef and cabbage and green beer. Adrian's also will feature live Irish music.
3. Piccadilly Grill, 7728 E. Central: Christy's corned beef and cabbage and Irish cheddar ale are on the menu.

Metro Grill menu
Metro Grill, the acclaimed sandwich and hot dog stand in Towne East Square, is about to celebrate its fifth birthday and recently introduced several new items to its menu. Among the dishes recently added _ the Brusco burger, made with grilled portobello mushrooms, arugula, garlic-basil mayo, onion and a balsamic reduction sauce on Cuban bread; a chicken kabob; a couple of pasta dishes; some sides; and a few desserts. Metro Grill also is about to undergo a remodeling of the tiny mobile cart where its based. The project will include the addition of plumbing and will give chef Michael Gonzalez more room for his sandwich artistry. The remodel should be done within a month.
Thai Five
Reader Ryan Amick highly recommends a restaurant that he calls a "wonderful hidden gem." It's called Thai Five at 1523 S. Seneca, and Amick says that the cuisine reminds his Thai-born best friend of home. "It may be a small place, but it is large on flavor and authenticity," he said. Gluten-free
P.F. Chang's, the upscale Chinese restaurant at 1401 N. Waterfront Parkway, has recently added five gluten-free beef dishes to its menu, bringing the total number of gluten-free dishes offered at the restaurant to 28.
