The elderly man who was hurt in a two-vehicle crash Monday in Haysville has died todaywed from his injuries, police said.

The 69-year-old man, a resident of Wellington, was a passenger in a Crown Victoria when his wife turned left in front of a southbound SUV at the intersection of Broadway and Grand at 4:09 p.m., Haysville Police Lt. Bob Crites said.

Heavy rain falling at the time likely played a role in the crash, authorities said.

The couple in the Crown Victoria were transported to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus for treatment. The driver was released from St. Francis Tuesday morning.

The driver of the SUV, a woman who lives in rural Sedgwick County, was not hurt, Crites said.

The investigation into the crash has been completed, Crites said, but no citations have been issued yet.
