Washburn women win, men lose

Top-seeded Washburn won the women's MIAA basketball tournament on Sunday in Kansas City, Mo., beating Central Missouri State 68-56.

It is the sixth time in eight years that the Ichabods have won the MIAA tourney.

The eighth-seeded Washburn men lost to Nebraska-Omaha 69-67 in the final, despite leading at halftime 31-30.

Logan Stutz led Washburn (16-14) with 23 points and eight rebounds. De'Andre Washington added 14 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Washburn's Hope Gregory was named the women's MVP, getting 14 points in the final.
