Kollen Long's CHL report

Under normal circumstances, the Wichita Thunder finds it difficult to win games. The challenge will be more difficult tonight when the Thunder will be without two key defensemen because of injuries.

Mark Adamek and Steve Makway will not play against visiting Mississippi tonight, and they could miss the weekend games, too.

Makway is out with a shoulder injury, the team said, and Adamek was injured when he was checked from behind by Arizona's Linus Fagemo on Saturday.

"They're probably a little worse than day to day," interim coach Jason Duda said. "It's par for the course. We finally get the guys in here we want, and now two of my top three D men minutes-wise are out. It's very frustrating."

Forward Brad Thompson, who has four points in his last four games, will see some time as a defenseman.

SLAPSHOTS

* Glenn Detulleo, Kevin Truelson and Tim Boron return to the Coliseum again tonight as members of the Mississippi Riverkings. Detulleo and Truelson have three points each in three games against the Thunder. Boron beat the Thunder on Sunday.

* The Thunder is 0-6 and has managed just eight goals at Intrust Bank Arena. Duda said his players are likely pressing. "It's tough not to," he said. "We definitely need a win at home."

PLUS

The Thunder was 8 for 8 on the penalty kill against Mississippi on Sunday. That improved the PK to 85 for 91 (93.4 percent) during the past 16 games, moving the team to sixth in the CHL at 83.7 percent.

MINUS

The Thunder has been out-shot 81-51 in the past two games, both losses.

TAP OF THE STICK

The annual "Pink at the Rink" night raised $5,500 for the Mary Kay Foundation, which is dedicated to ending women's cancers and domestic abuse.

TAP OF THE STICK II

A classic Kiss Cam moment on Friday when the camera focused on Missouri's bench, and a couple players pretended to share a smooch.

PENALTY BOX

The Thunder has shown little ability to battle back from behind. Wichita is 1-22-2 when trailing after one period and 0-29-1 when trailing after two.

DEFINING DIGIT

18

Number of consecutive home losses, including 12 at the Kansas Coliseum, that the Thunder has suffered. The Thunder hasn't won at home since Nov. 20.

HE SAID IT

"The schedule is a bit of a joke."

—Duda on a brutal stretch of the season. The Thunder will play Friday, Saturday and Sunday for the next three weeks, with Wednesday games in between.
