Carolina Enegren, 31, hospitalized for more than three months because of complications from H1N1, has died.
Mrs. Enegren, who was featured in an Eagle story earlier this month, died Wednesday.
She was the first of her family to become ill from the H1N1 virus, back in mid-October. Her husband, Paul, 33, and their two sons, Phillip-Antonio, 4, and Nicholas-Emilio, 3, also got sick. They all got better within a few days.
But Mrs. Enegren was left with a cough that worsened and progressed into acute respiratory distress syndrome, a lung condition that prevents enough oxygen from getting to the blood. She had been hospitalized since Oct. 24.
Her husband said she died of complications from the virus and damage to her lungs.
