WICHITA — The public is invited to see the release of "Freedom," a juvenile bald eagle, Feb. 13 on the banks of the Arkansas River outside Exploration Place.
A video called "American Eagle," which chronicles the lives of two families of bald eagles, will be shown inside Exploration Place at 2 p.m. The bird will be released at 3:30 p.m.
Freedom was found in December 2009 with a gunshot wound to the wing. Eagle Valley Raptor Center has been overseeing its care and recovery since.
The release will be done in honor of Sedgwick County sheriff's Deputy Brian Etheridge, who lost his life in the line of duty Sept. 28, 2009.
