A decision made the first time Demarcus Robinson met Bill Snyder will be cemented this afternoon.
Robinson, Wichita Northwest's all-state running back, will sign a letter of intent to play at Kansas State.
"I'm excited about it," Robinson said. "I love Coach Snyder and can't wait to get up there. All the players and the coaches in that program know what it's like to build a program. They surround themselves with people they can trust and people who want to play for them."
K-State will make its newest recruiting class official today, and Robinson could turn out to be the jewel of the group.
The 5-foot-9, 192-pound ballcarrier, a four-star recruit by Rivals.com, is the Wildcats' highest-rated prospect. He chose K-State over Kansas, BYU, Louisville and Missouri.
Robinson, who ran for 1,711 yards last season, said he started looking at the Wildcats when Ron Prince was coach, but made his decision when Snyder made his return.
"Meeting Coach Snyder for the first time is really what sold me," Robinson said. "He had all kinds of great things to say about the program, and there were plenty of ex-players still around you could talk to. There was a sense of family. I wanted to be comfortable wherever I was going, and I knew I was going to be comfortable there."
Another four-star recruit expected to be comfortable in Manhattan is Adam Davis, a defensive end from Hutchinson Community College. The transfer will be joined by two Hutchinson teammates — offensive lineman Mike Powell and wide receiver/kick returner Gage McKinnis.
K-State is expected to have a mix of juco transfers and high school seniors. Most are three-star recruits, such as Dodge City's Laton Dowling, Olathe North's Tre Walker and Abilene's Curry Sexton.
One two-star player, Manhattan's Tate Snyder, is Bill Snyder's grandson.
Without any last-minute surprises, Rivals.com has ranked K-State's recruiting class 59th nationally.
Robinson has met with many of his future teammates, though, and said they will surprise the evaluators.
"I think we've got a really good class coming in," Robinson said. "We're going to do some good things."
Bell signs today — Bishop Carroll quarterback Blake Bell, who committed to Oklahoma last year, will sign a letter of intent at a 3:15 p.m. school ceremony. He will be joined by four teammates who are signing with junior colleges.
Bell is a two-time Eagle Top 11 quarterback.
