You can check out home-building and remodeling trends in Wichita next week at the Wichita Home Show. The show starts Thursday and runs through Feb. 7 at Century II.
More than 275 exhibitors will display their products and services related to home building, home remodeling and day-to-day homemaking. Exhibits and hands-on seminars will feature the latest in kitchens, living rooms, dining rooms and bedrooms. Custom cat and dog houses will be on display to promote Barkitecture, a fundraiser for the Kansas Humane Society.
Between 35,000 and 40,000 people usually attend the show, according to the Wichita Area Builders Association, which sponsors it.
“We not only want to inspire residents in the Wichita area with ideas on how to make their homes more efficient, more valuable and more fun to live in, we want to provide them with the means to make some of those ideas a reality” the association’s president, Wess Galyon, says. “We want people to walk away with great plans for their homes.”
Most of the people who attend the show are homeowners or getting ready to buy their first house, the association says. If a house is 22 years or older, the association says, it most likely has systems that need to be upgraded or replaced.
Admission is $7.50 for adults, $5.50 for senior citizens and $2.50 for children ages 7 to 12. Children 6 and under get in free.
Show hours are 1 to 9 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Feb. 6 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 7.
Free child care will be available from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Feb. 6 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 7.
Free parking and shuttle buses will be available at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
