Botanical name: Cestrum aurantiacum

Description: An annual/ houseplant that grows 5 to 7 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide with dark green, lance-shaped foliage. At the branch tips, 4- to 10-inch clusters of showy yellow flowers appear nearly year-round. The flowers are followed by white berries.
Growing tips: In our zone, this is an annual. If brought inside for the winter, it will reach its maximum size. Optimum growing conditions are well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Water regularly, but do not overwater. The arching branches may need to be staked to prevent the overshadowing of other plants. Propagate from stem cuttings.
History: Grown at Botanica since 2006.
Uses: Great container specimen. Plant is attractive to bees, butterflies and hummingbirds. Flowers are good for cutting.
