Special
"Great Performances at the Met"
"American Idol"? Pah. The new two-hour episode "The Audition" takes viewers inside an even more grueling competition: the Metropolitan Opera's National Council Auditions, which draw thousands of singers vying for a cash prize, a role on the Met stage and, if all goes well, a career in opera's big time. It focuses on three young tenors: 22-year-old Michael, 25-year-old Alek and Ryan, 30, who has a fine voice but little training. 8 p.m., PBS and KPTS, Channel 8.
Season premiere
"Toddlers & Tiaras"
The first part of this series' second season definitely got people talking — in fact, some of them talked so much trash about one pageant mom on TLC's message board that the channel took it down. Tonight, viewers can rejoin the world of over-the-top beauty competitions for little girls with a visit to Florida for the Little Miss Glitz pageant, which, if nothing else, is at least practicing truth in advertising. 9 p.m., TLC, Channel 43.
Series
"Criminal Minds"
The World Wide Web may be turning into a dead zone in a small Wyoming town, where a startling rash of teen suicides draws the focus of Rossi and Hotchner and the rest of the BAU team, who wonder whether the deaths may be linked by the Internet. 8 p.m., CBS and KWCH, Channel 12.
Sports
College Basketball
Baylor at Kansas. 8 p.m., ESPN2, Channel 33.
