Botanical name: Juniperus chinensis "Keteleeri"
Location: Butterfly Garden, Sensory Garden, Xeriscape Garden, Wildflower Meadow and many other locations
Description: Dense evergreen that has upright branches and a pyramidal growing habit. It features medium green, needle-like foliage that is attractive year-round. In the winter, ample crops of gray-green berries provide added interest. Grows 15 to 20 feet high and 6 to 10 feet wide.
Growth tips: Easily grown in average, well-drained soil in full sun. It is drought tolerant once established. Can be pruned if a more dense look is desired.
History: Displayed at Botanica since 1987.
Uses: A great foundation plant with good height. Can serve as a screen or hedge when grouped together. Attractive to birds.
