If your New Year's Eve plans are looking thin, no need to stay home with Dick Clark.
Gather up your Christmas cash and spring for a ticket to one of the many parties being put on around town.
They range from intimate bar parties to raging hotel galas. And many include the all-important midnight balloon drop.
Following is a guide to many of the New Year's Eve parties planned for Thursday.
Shows
Crown Uptown, 3207 E. Douglas, 316-681-1566. Dinner buffet starts at 6:15 p.m., "A Crown Uptown Christmas" show at 8, dancing to Denny Duskek (big band), champagne toast, midnight balloon drop. $49.95 plus tax a person. Reservations encouraged.
Prairie Rose Chuck Wagon, 15231 SW Parallel Road, Benton. New Year's Eve Dance, with Les Gilliam and the Silver Lake Band, 9:30 p.m.-midnight. Dinner at 6:30 with Prairie Rose Rangers show. Broadview Hotel, 400 W. Douglas, 316-262-5000 or 800-362-2929. Music by Rain and Victor Rose, champagne toast, 7 p.m.-1 a.m. Cost $169 includes overnight accommodations, dinner for two, breakfast buffet and late checkout.
Wichita Marriott, 9100 Corporate Hills Drive, 316-651-0333. Package for two includes 7 p.m. dinner buffet., cash bars, DJ playing music from the '50s, '60s and '80s, live band, overnight accommodations, champagne toast and breakfast buffet the next morning. $239 a couple. Hyatt Regency, 400 W. Waterman, 316-293-1234. Party at Century II Exhibition Hall is $69 a person and will feature music by Big Fat Fun and a dinner buffet from 6 to 8 p.m. Party-only package starts at 9 p.m. and is $25 a person.
Restaurants/ Clubs
Oeno Wine Bar, 330 N. Mead, 316-440-5000. Two packages ($60, $80 VIP) include live music, midnight toast, heavy hors d'oeuvres and seafood ice bar. VIP ticket includes three tasting tickets to the "Sparkling Wine Room." Advance credit card reservations required.
The Shadow, 550 N. Rock Road, 316-630-9550. Buffet with champagne split for each guest is from 7 to 10 p.m. Music by Fabulous Shirtheads starts at 9 p.m. Price is $65 for dinner and show, $45 for just dinner or $20 for just the show. Reservations required for dinner.
Clifton Wine & Jazz, 3700 E. Douglas, 316-686-5299. Party includes champagne and favors at midnight and is $35 a person or $55 with dinner. The bar opens at 4 p.m. with music by Marty Bowe at 6 p.m and Rudy Love Sr. and Friends at 9 p.m. Reservations recommended.
America's Pub, 116 N. Mead, 316-267-1782. Dancing, balloon drop with prizes and $50 cash prize to every 50th person through the door. 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., $10 cover.
Doc Howard's, 252 N. Mosley, 316-263-2244. Masquerade party from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. with champagne and hors d'oeuvres from 8 to 10 p.m. Tables are $40 a couple, booths are $60 a couple, couches are $25 a person or $100 a couple. Reservations required.
