New series

"Men of a Certain Age"

This new dramedy series explores the shifting dynamics in the friendships of three men entering middle age. Joe (Ray Romano, who also co-created this series), a party store owner and recently separated father of two, once dreamed of being a pro golfer. Terry (Scott Bakula), an actor, spends most of his time temping these days. And Owen (Andre Braugher), a stressed-out car salesman, must endure constant abuse from his father. 9 p.m. and midnight, TNT, Channel 30.

New movie

"Alice"

Lewis Carroll's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass" get a futuristic makeover as martial arts instructor Alice Hamilton (Caterina Scorsone) finds herself thrust into a grim parallel universe, where she searches for her lost love (Philip Winchester) while trying to evade the fiendish Queen of Hearts (Kathy Bates). 6, 8, 10 p.m. and midnight, SyFy, Channel 50.

Special

"Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town"

A lanky mailman with the voice of Fred Astaire explains Santa's origins in this 1970 animated special, which sidesteps the St. Nicholas part. In this version, the future jolly old elf is a foundling adopted by the Kringles, a family of toymakers. He grows up with toys in his blood, so to speak, and feels called to give them away to the local youngsters, but mean old Burgermeister Meisterburger will have none of that. 7 p.m., ABC and KAKE, Channel 10.

Series

"Gossip Girl"

A serious car accident rocks the Upper East Side as Chuck is grappling with an issue from the past on the anniversary of Bart Bass' death. 8 p.m., CW and KSCW, Channel 5/33.

Sports

NFL Football

Baltimore Ravens at Green Bay Packers. 7:30 p.m., ESPN, Channel 32.
