Portland center Greg Oden will likely miss the rest of the NBA season after fracturing his left patella during a game against Houston on Saturday night in Portland. Oden will undergo surgery, the Trail Blazers said. The 7-foot center dropped to the floor clutching his left knee and grimacing after colliding with a driving Aaron Brooks midway through the first quarter.
* Newman missed 16 of 27 free throws Saturday night in a 77-61 home loss to Manhattan Christian College. Jake Darby had 11 points to lead the Jets.
* Chris Jackson scored 28 points as Friends beat visiting Southwestern 81-61 in a KCAC men's game. Southwestern won the women's game 58-54. Ashley Mills and Jessica Halsig each had 12 to lead Friends.
* Brandon Hilyard's three-pointer wit 24 seconds to go lifted Butler's men past Garden City 63-61 in El Dorado.
Track and field
Kansas senior Keith Hayes, from Wichita, hit an NCAA-provisional qualifying mark Saturday as he ran the 60-meter hurdles in a first-place time of 7.91.
Bowling
Wichita State's women are leading the Leatherneck Classic in Rock Island, Ill., through Saturday's games. The Shocker men's team is in second place heading into today's final Baker matches.

Graeme McDowell, the player who replaced Tiger Woods in the Chevron World Challenge field, shot a 6-under 66 Saturday to claim a share of the 54-hole lead with Y.E. Yang. They were at 10-under 206, one shot ahead of Padraig Harrington and Lee Westwood.
Boxing
Amir Khan retained his WBA light-welterweight title in stunning fashion, knocking down unbeaten American challenger Dmitriy Salita three times before the fight was stopped after 76 seconds in Newcastle, England. Khan (22-1, 16 KOs) put Salita on the canvas after barely 10 seconds.
Skiing
Bode Miller finished fourth behind Switzerland's Carlo Janka in a World Cup downhill in Beaver Creek, Colo., proving to anyone who might have harbored any doubts that, with the Vancouver Olympics about 2 1/2 months away, the 32-year-old American is capable of competing with the best.
* Colorado's Lindsey Vonn won a World Cup downhill for the second straight day, giving her seven victories on the Lake Louise (Alberta) course since 2004.

Shawn Horcoff scored in the fifth round of the shootout to help Edmonton to a rare road win, 3-2 at Dallas.... Erik Cole scored three goals and Carolina held off Vancouver 5-3 victory to end a five-game losing streak.... Paul Kariya scored two goals in the third period and St. Louis beat Los Angeles 5-4 in a shootout.... Peter Laviolette made an unsuccessful debut behind the Philadelphia bench in an 8-2 loss to streaking Washington.... Colorado held off Columbus 3-2 when a tying goal was disallowed in the final seconds.... Henrik Lundqvist made 36 saves to lift the New York Rangers to a 2-1 win over Buffalo.... Visiting Minnesota won its firfth straight game, 5-3 over Nashville.
Soccer
Defending champion North Carolina (22-3-1) will go for the program's 21st national title today against Stanford (25-0), which is loaded with skill, speed and experience. The Cardinal have scored 80 goals this season, second in the nation to Portland (83).
