An unsolved western Kansas murder case will be the subject of a "48 Hours Mystery" at 8 tonight on CBS.
It revolves around Mike Golub's disappearance from the small town of Johnson City. Golub, 27, disappeared on May 20, 2005. His pickup was found six days later, but his body was never found.
Golub's ex-girlfriend and her husband, Shannon and Chad Floyd, were accused of murder. Two juries failed to reach verdicts and charges against the Floyds were dismissed in November 2008.
At the time of his disappearance, Golub and Shannon Floyd had been involved in a custody dispute over their son.
"This case has all sorts of tantalizing clues but no conclusive evidence, and that's left the defense free to speculate that Mike Golub might not even be dead," said CBS' Susan Spencer in a web video preview for the program entitled "Justice in the Heartland."
Dan Monnat, who along with fellow Wichita lawyer Kurt Kerns represented the Floyds and eventually won the dismissal of charges, fears that the network program will dredge up more gossip in the small community where the couple still live.
Monnat and Kerns originally objected to CBS recording the second trial.
"We didn't think that our innocent clients, their families and children ought to be subject of a docudrama created solely to generate profits," Monnat said.
The program is scheduled for 8 p.m. It airs locally on KWCH, Channel 12.
