Beginning Thursday, H1N1 vaccine will be available to anyone who wants it, the Sedgwick County Health Department said Tuesday.

Today's H1N1 vaccine clinic is for those considered at higher risk for complications from influenza, including health care workers, pregnant women, those who care for infants and those with chronic medical conditions.

The Health Department is offering the vaccine for free. Some private providers also are offering the vaccine, and they may charge an administrative fee for their staff time.

The Health Department's clinic is at 4095 E. Harry. It will be open from 2 to 7 p.m. today and Thursday, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday unless the vaccine supply runs out.

Because the department anticipates long lines Thursday, it asks those who are in the higher-risk groups to get their vaccine today.

The Harvey County Health Department also is making H1N1 vaccine available to anyone who wants it at its office in Newton and at area schools. For sites, dates and hours, visit www.harveycounty.com.

The Sedgwick County Health Department has set up a call center to give up-to-date information about H1N1, the clinic and priority groups. Individuals with questions can call 316-660-5558.
