Kansas State kick returner Brandon Banks was named Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Year, and running back Daniel Thomas was named Offensive Newcomer of the Year in Big 12 Conference awards announced Tuesday.
Kansas wide receiver Dezmon Briscoe was a first-team selection on offense. Banks (kick returner) and Thomas also were first-team selections, along with Wildcat tight end Jeron Mastrud and offensive lineman Nick Stringer.
Banks and KU's Kerry Meier earned second-team honors as wide receivers.
