Kansas African American Museum co-hosts special events this week

WICHITA — The Kansas African American Museum is partnering with a variety of agencies to co-host a variety of special events this week.

The Center for Health and Wellness will present the documentary "Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?" at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the museum, 601 N. Water.

The University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita, MediWeight Loss Clinic, the Center for Health and Wellness and USD 259 will collaborate with the museum on a health clinic at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wichita State University Hughes Metropolitan Complex at 29th Street North and Oliver.

Finally, the museum will host "Opening Doors" at 6 p.m. Friday, where students can meet doctors, nurses and other health professionals. The program honors black surgeons, including pediatric neurosurgeon Ben Carson, the first man to successfully separate a set of conjoined twins.
