Connie Robinson-Clemons is Kansas' first forester to be named a regional winner for tree farm inspector of the year. She and the three other regional winners received their awards at the 2009 National Tree Farm Convention in Washington, D.C.
Robinson-Clemons represents the Kansas Forest Service in the state's southeast district, working out of Iola. She has been a Kansas inspector since 2003 and has enrolled 44 landowners into the American Tree Farm System. It requires meeting internationally accepted standards of stewardship.
Inspectors work with landowners on cost-share programs, systematic plans and technical support for riparian area plantings, tree stand and wildlife habitat improvements, and responsible tree harvests.
