Top-ranked Fort Scott Community College announced Tuesday that it will play No. 2 Blinn (Texas) on Dec. 6 in the Citizens Bank Bowl at Pittsburg for the NJCAA football championship.
"What else was there?" Fort Scott coach Jeff Sims said. "It had to be 1 vs. 2 or it wouldn't have been a real national championship game."
Blinn (10-1), champion of the Southwest Junior College Football Conference, made its way to the national title game by beating then-No. 1 Navarro 45-34 in the league title game. The win avenged Blinn's only loss of the season.
Fort Scott (11-0) won the 1970 national title and sealed its spot in this year's title game by defeating two-time defending national champion Butler twice over the last three weeks of the season.
No. 19 Coffeyville will face No. 14 Rochester (Minn.) in the first NJCAA bowl game on Saturday at Rochester.
On Dec. 5, No. 20 Hutchinson will play host to No. 16 New Mexico Military in the Salt City Bowl.
